Vårsøg

  Vårsøg, arranged by James Olcott, is a heartfelt trumpet ensemble adaptation of the beloved Norwegian song Vårsøg (Search for Spring), composed in 1977 by Henning Sommerro with lyrics by Hans Hyldbakk. In memory of his late wife, Vera Olcott, James crafted this arrangement to reflect both the gentle lyricism and uplifting spirit of the original melody, offering a musical tribute infused with seasonal warmth and emotional resonance. The trumpet parts are thoughtfully accessible, with a range that extends only to an A, ensuring it remains playable for many ensembles. The arrangement’s flowing solo line and warm harmonic textures deliver both accessibility and profound emotional expression, inviting performers and audiences to sense the song's deep connection to renewal and hope.
